Today our student council candidates were put to the test by responding to questions in a large group student panel. Speeches will happen Monday. Yesterday we had an ARMY fitness challenge thanks to Jake from the ARMY National Guard! Students tested their strength through the 2 min push-up, 2 min plank, sled drag, sprinting and more. Students were able to push past their own expectations and be proud of their accomplishment. Another Decade of Innovation in Education celebration is our new Student Council! Students interested in participating in the elected position process presented to the school community on Friday. Students will gain an understanding of the election process, create a persuasive speech, host a campaign booth, and participate in an interview panel. We had our first Buckthorn Bust-Up Challenge on Friday! Students worked together in teams of 2 or 4 to get the biggest pile - and those with roots got bonus points! Buckthorn is a non-native invasive shrub. They all did a great job. Position: Case Manager and Student Support Specialist
Maria's favorite hobbies are yoga, jogging, spoken word poetry, and theater. She's excited about sharing all of these interests with our community:
“One of my favorite hobbies is yoga. I'm excited to learn about what students are interested in as well!”
Maria is looking forward to, “Getting outside, going into the world with you, and learning alongside you.”
Maria also wants to share, “I graduated from Whittier College with a BA in English and Theater, then got my MS in Educational Administration. I have also done postgraduate work in Human Development, with an emphasis in Early Childhood, and I am currently studying Ecopsychology.”
